Why Join A Training Group – A Testimonial by TJ Taurisano

Wednesday, July 28, 2021

I had never been a part of a running training group before signing up with Charm City Run Annapolis in February 2021. I knew after the year of the pandemic, I needed something to push me towards getting back into shape and always enjoyed running as a casual hobby. Running with Charm City changed that hobby into an obsession!

I signed up for the Half Marathon Training Group to prepare for a race in May. When COVID-19 delayed that race, coaches Kelly and Doreen kept the training going and I ended up signing up for a virtual half marathon instead, so I could keep training for the same date. When that virtual race came, Kelly and Doreen both met me and ran parts of the race with me to help keep me pushing towards my goal. I ended up setting a PR by about 15 minutes and beating my goal by 3 minutes!

I learned a lot about fueling, shoes, running form, and how to train during the season, and immediately after my race I signed up for the next Training Group for the summer! The groups have a very friendly atmosphere and are great for any skill level!
