Welcome back to SoleStats Dash! Today, we are breaking down a brand that is officially joining the Charm City Run family: Norda. Specifically, we’re looking at the flagship Norda 001.
When a shoe hits the shelf with a premium price tag, runners usually have two immediate questions: What is Norda? and Is it actually worth the price? We’re going to answer both, but let’s start with the big one: Yes, it is worth it. Here is why.

Built to Last (and Last… and Last)
The value of the Norda 001 comes from its unique construction. Most trail shoes have a “expiration date” that comes far too soon, but Norda is engineered to last more than twice as long as most other brands on the market.
The Upper: Stronger Than Kevlar
The magic starts with the material. The upper is made from Bio-Circular Dyneema®, which is the lightest and strongest material in the world. To put that in perspective: it is lighter and stronger than Kevlar.
- One-Piece Construction: The upper is laser-cut from a single piece of material. This eliminates seams, which reduces unnecessary friction and prevents the “hot spots” or “weak spots” that typically cause a shoe to fail.
- Anatomical Design: The toe box is wide to allow for proper toe splay and better balance on technical terrain. In the back, the heel is cut forward to match your natural anatomy, preventing rubbing on the Achilles.
- Dyneema® Laces: Even the laces are over-engineered—made of Dyneema, they are four times stronger than standard laces.

The Midsole: Grounded & Stable
Norda utilizes a unique midsole foam called Arnatel®. This is a TPEE foam with a slightly firmer durometer than your average “squishy” trainer. Combined with a lower stack height, it keeps you incredibly grounded and stable on uneven trails.
Interestingly, the midsole is completely rubberized, extending into the toe cap and up the heel. This massively increases durability in high-impact zones.
The Specs:
- Stack Height: 26mm (heel) / 21mm (forefoot)
- Drop: 5mm
- Weight: Men’s (9.4 oz) / Women’s (8.1 oz)
The Outsole: Vibram® Grit
Norda doesn’t cut corners on traction. They use a Vibram® sole plate made of one flexible piece. This provides a stable platform with massive rubber coverage. Just one look at those deep, aggressive lugs and you know this shoe was built for the gnarliest trails in Maryland and beyond.
Internal Comfort & Lockdown
Inside the shoe, you’ll find a soft TPU insert that provides immediate comfort and conforms to your foot over time. The wide tongue features “anatomy wings” that hook directly into the midsole on both sides. This locks your midfoot down securely while leaving your toes free to move.
The Verdict
The Norda 001 retails for $295. While that is an investment, the math checks out when you realize you are getting double the mileage out of a single pair.
Pro Tip: Norda officially recommends going half a size up from your normal running shoe size.
