Tuesday, October 11, 2016

As the Baltimore Running Festival quickly approaches, many runners are hoping for a successful race this weekend. Although the temperatures are starting to drop with the shift to the fall season, it is still just as important to stay hydrated during your race to make sure you can successfully and happily cross the finish line. Listen to Dr. Sedgley’s top advice for making sure you stay safe.

Key takeaways from our friends at Medstar Sports Medicine:

  • Drink to your thirst throughout your race.
  • Listen to your body and maintain hydration to prevent the negative effects of dehydration.
  • Be sure not to over-hydrate in order to maintain your salt levels. You can also use an electrolyte supplement to keep your balances in check.
