The Reliable Daily Trainer, Refined
The Ghost has long been a staple in the running world, and the version 18 holds true to its DNA. It remains a moderately cushioned, neutral daily trainer that balances a lightweight feel with reliable stability.
The Tale of the Tape:
- Weight: 9.0 oz (Women’s) / 10.1 oz (Men’s)
- Stack Height: 26mm in the forefoot / 36mm in the heel (a slight 0.5mm reduction from the v17)
- Midsole: Full-length DNA Loft foam
What’s New: It’s All About the Upper
Brooks took the “if it ain’t broke, refine it” approach with this update. While the midsole and outsole remain nearly identical to the Ghost 17, the upper has received a major facelift for increased comfort and durability.
- Breathable Air Mesh: The new two-colored air mesh is noticeably more breathable than previous versions, keeping your feet cool as the miles add up.
- Flat Knit Tongue: The redesigned tongue sits evenly across the top of the foot, eliminating “hot spots” and providing a much lighter, more comfortable fit.
- Plush Heel Collar: Brooks kept the signature plush feel of the heel but slightly reduced the height. Don’t worry—it still holds your heel just as securely as before.
On-Foot Feel
Despite the weight remaining the same, the Ghost 18 feels lighter and more energetic on foot. The improved breathability in the upper actually makes it feel like you can get more out of the DNA Loft midsole. It’s stable, springy, and feels broken-in from the very first step.
