By: Shelly Pace, Charm City Run Training Coach

My name is Shelly Pace and I am the half marathon coach for Charm City Run Annapolis. I have really enjoyed coaching the 10k training groups  and excited to start my half marathon training groups next Saturday, June 15th.

You never know what each day will bring. This day back in April of 2012 that I am thinking of started off like any other day except my eye sight was a little wonky if that is even a word. This day was also the beginning of a journey that I had no idea was beginning.  I was going to find running and my “Why?”.

I ended up being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Didn’t even really know anything about this disease or what it would even mean for me. Well, it turned out being a way for me to find my why and my incredible passion for running.

Now 12 years after that day back in April of 2012, I completed my 21st marathon on April 14, 2024!! I ran my first 5k in 2014 and have now run more than 70+ half marathons and many additional races of 5k and 10k. Stopped counting the total a few years ago and just keep signing up.

I am also an RRCA Level 1 Running Coach. I love training and helping others to enjoy that finish line feeling and to connect with their “Why?”.

Let’s be honest, being a mother to three teenagers is filled with lots of love, chaos, and can be noisy at times. I love running to help calm the noise and for the enjoyment of movement.

And running with a Charm City Run Training Group is just fun!! Helps keep you accountable, provides encouragement and support, and an all inclusive group to show up and be a part of each time you lace up with us.

As always, don’t forget your “Why?”. Why did I sign up for this training, why did I sign up for this race, why do I want to do this race, why do I want to do this workout? On those days I may not feel like lacing up, it helps me to have a “Why?” to remind myself and to keep lacing my shoes.

Believe That You Can, Decide That You Will.
