Half Marathon Training

Are you planning to run 13.1? Our half marathon programs are open to everyone from the runner attempting their first endurance event to the repeat competitive runner. Training can be individualized to your experience and goals. The program will prepare to race your best - whether you're new to long distance running or a seasoned half marathoner.

Our half marathon groups meet twice a week - once a week for speed workouts and once a week for long runs. Your expert coach will also provide you with a weekly training plan that will guide your preparation for your target half marathon. Along the way you'll learn about about increasing your mileage, tempo runs, track workouts, hill workouts, recovery runs, nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, and much more.



Requirements

To safely meet your goal we do ask that you have a base level of running under your belt before joining this group. What does that mean? We ask that at the beginning of the program you are able to run/walk 3-4 miles at one time and are currently running 10-15 miles per week. This does not mean you need to be able to run the entire way but just that you are comfortable covering that distance. Are you not sure if you meet these requirements? Don’t worry ask the coach for you location. You will be surprised that most people meet these requirements and are able to join the group.

Our spring half marathon groups start February 9th and target the Frederick Half Marathon on Sunday, May 5th, the St Michaels Half Marathon on Saturday, May 18th or any other half marathon in the same time frame!

TIMONIUM (Daytime option)

*Our daytime group runs will include track workouts on Tuesdays and distance runs or tempo runs on Thursdays. You will receive a full training plan for your race including long runs to be completed on the weekends, along with a way to meet up with the other runners for an informal group run.

VIRTUAL TRAINING

We will be offering a virtual training option for the Spring Half Marathon Training Program. This program is perfect for those who live out of state or aren't able to make the training sessions from the stores. This group will follow the same training plan as the other groups using the online platform and app Final Surge. To learn more about virtual training, please click below.
