Annapolis is an absolutely beautiful place to run! Whether you’re looking for a route with water views or trails, this area has it all! After years of running in Naptown, check out some of my favorite places along with details below:

The US Naval Academy:

You can run the perimeter of the academy and see the views of the bay and the entire academy. You could also be running with the Plebs if you are there in June! A few key points that you have to follow when running there:

  • You must go through security and show ID
  • You can only run along the water or perimeter of the academy. You can NOT run in front of any of the homes.
  • You must always have a shirt on
  • At 8:00 everyday they play the National Anthem and you are expected to stop, face the flag and remove your hat.

Quiet Waters Park:
Located off of Forest Drive in Annapolis you will find the park where you can run the paved
paths or there are some trails you will find off the paths. You can get over 6 miles on the paved
path. *there is a parking fee to enter the park; many park outside and run in to the park.

Downtown Annapolis:
You can park downtown Annapolis for free before 10am and then run through the city and
Eastport for some great views, cobblestone streets, boats and more.

Downtown Annapolis

Bay Ridge Neighborhood:
One of the prettiest runs in Annapolis. If you park at Peninsula Park you can run down to the
neighborhood and run along the water where you can see the Thomas Point Lighthouse and the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Navy Marine Corps Stadium:
There is a 1.2 mile paved loop around the stadium that is perfect for running or walking.

Baltimore Annapolis Trail:
This paved trail starts in Annapolis and continues to the BWI Airport loop. There are many
places along the way to get on the trail for whatever distance you prefer. There are water
fountains along the way.

Truman Parkway: Hills, Hills and more Hills
A perfect place to get your hill work done. You can park at the Harry S Truman Park and Ride.
Run from Riva Road to the end of Truman Parkway and you will hit three nice hills, mama, papa
and baby.

BWI Airport Loop:
Park at Thomas Dixon Observation area from dusk to dawn and then the paved trail around the
airport is about 10.3 miles.

And make sure to stop by and see us at our new Charm City Run Annapolis location at 87 Forest Plaza for all your running/walking gear! We’d love to hear about your runs/walks and any new routes you’ve discovered!
