Proceeds from this event will provide significant growth and enhancements to the NICU so it can continue to provide the top care for the tiniest patients at GBMC.

The NICU at GBMC helps about 400 babies each year that are born too small, too sick or too soon. The team of doctors and nurses work around the clock to help these babies, and also provide comfort to the parents and family members.

In 2018, GBMC opened a brand new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, featuring 10 single rooms and 3 doubles, for multiples. The new unit was designed with patients and family in mind. With each room featuring a Kangaroo Chair, designed for parents to sleep in, while also promoting breastfeeding and skin to skin contact, which are both vital for development.

The new space is quiet, with soft lighting and features 3 different zones: nurse, patient and family. This allows the family to have privacy while the nursing team is able to continue their work. Kick off your Father’s Day while running or walking, and fundraising for our tiniest patients in the 31st annual Father’s Day 5K!

Each volunteer will receive a T-shirt and breakfast. Numerous tasks are available on race day that include setting up and breaking down the event, assisting with registration, being a course marshal along the course to serve water and direct runners, assisting at the finish line with collection of timing chips and handing out water and more.
