Coach: DeWitt Kneass

I am an experienced High School Head Cross Country and Distance Track Coach with a decade of expertise in guiding and mentoring young athletes at Chesapeake High School and Broadneck High School. I have coached numerous athletes who have competed at the collegiate level and set several high school records. I started coaching high school cross country and track after a lengthy career in leadership at Nestle Purina Petcare. I hold certifications in coaching, first aid, and energy management ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants. I have been a competitive runner all my life.

Our Mission at Broadneck HS Cross Country Camp is we run for physical and mental fitness, fun, and personal bests and we take that mission seriously. My coaching philosophy centers around fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every camper feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I believe in teaching the fundamentals of running and fitness while emphasizing the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. We start every athlete in summer camp where they are fitness wise and build from there, getting them ready for high school sports in the fall. Our goal is to inspire young athletes to develop a lifelong passion for physical activity and healthy living.

When I am not coaching, I enjoy staying active through running and weight training. I am also an avid reader and love exploring new topics related to sports science and personal development. My commitment to continuous learning helps me stay updated with the latest coaching techniques and strategies. My wife and I enjoy exercising and traveling the world.

As a coach at the summer camp, I am excited to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with the campers. I look forward to helping them build new skills, make lasting friendships, and create unforgettable memories. Together, we will embark on a summer filled with fun, adventure, and personal growth while getting them in shape to manage the rigor of High School Cross Country.
