My running journey began in high school, where I competed in cross country, indoor,
and outdoor track—and I haven’t stopped since. I continued my passion at Shenandoah
University, running all four years and earning multiple accolades along the way. During
my junior year, I placed third in both the distance medley relay and 5K, won the
steeplechase, and took third in the 10K at the ODAC Conference Championships. I also
earned All-Region honors for the steeplechase. My senior year, I was named Second
Team All-Conference and All-Region for cross country and was recognized as an
Academic All-American.
After college, I set my sights on the Boston Marathon and proudly ran it twice—along
with several other marathons. Most recently, I completed my first ultramarathon at the
HAT 50K. I trained for this race through Charm City Run’s ultra training group and loved
every second of it!
I’ve also spent time coaching collegiate athletes in cross-country and track and field at
Hood College, where I focused on distance events and steeplechase. That coaching
experience, combined with my competitive background, gives me a deep understanding
of what it takes to support runners at every level.
My journey eventually brought me to Charm City Run, where I joined the events team
and found another incredible outlet for my passion: helping others cross their own finish
lines. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing runners accomplish their goals—whether
it's their first 5K or a new PR in the half!
As a coach, I meet each runner where they are. Whether you’re brand new to running or
chasing a personal best, I’m here to guide, encourage, and support you every step of
the way. Let’s chase those goals together!
Description
Looking for a track workout to supplement your training? Coach Shelby is here to help! The purpose of these sessions are for runners who want to build a little speed into their training each week. Whether you are training for your first 5k or trying to PR in the marathon, we welcome all!
There will be two workout options for runners to choose from. One option will be geared towards runners looking to get in a longer workout distance/ intensity, and the other option will be a bit dialed back from the longer workout/ intensity. After the workout is complete, we will cool down and do some static stretching together. Runners will find that along the way they will learn about the importance of
interval workouts, dynamic stretching, static stretching, proper warm-up/ cool-downs, hydration, and much more! We are so ready to see you on the track!
