Please join us for the Charles Street 12, Maryland's most monumental race. The Charles Street 12-mile race will begin at The Shops at Kenilworth and take you down one of Maryland's most beautiful and scenic byways. The Charles Street 12 will treat runners to beautiful views of Maryland's most charming neighborhoods including Towson, The Orchards, Roland Park, Homeland, Guilford, Charles Village, Mt. Vernon and Downtown Baltimore. While you will be running fast on this course, don't miss the views of some our best universities, museums and landmarks including Towson University, the Cathedral of Mary our Queen, Notre Dame College, Loyola College, Johns Hopkins University, the Basilica, The Baltimore Museum of Art, the Walters Art Gallery and the Washington Monument. Hold your head high, collect your medal, cheer on your friends, and enjoy the live music and good eats at the post-race party at the Power Plant Live!
$90 thereafter and on race day
The entry fee includes a $5 bus transportation fee from the finish area to the race start at The Shops at Kenilworth. There is no parking available for event participants at The Shops at Kenilworth. If you choose not to use the bus transportation provided, the $5 will be deducted from your entry fee. The buses will depart the Power Plant Live! beginning at 5:30 a.m., the last bus will depart promptly at 6:45 a.m. If participants want to add bus transportation to their registration the cut off to do so is July 30, 2014.
There are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event.
Course: The Charles Street 12 starts at the Shops at Kenilworth on Kenilworth Drive, and continues south via the Towson bypass to Towsontown Boulevard. After turning right on Towsontown Boulevard, runners will turn left on Osler and run past Towson University and the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center. Osler dead-ends at Stevenson Road and runners will turn right travelling past the Rodgers Forge – Dumbarton Fields, through the Rodgers Forge neighborhood before making a left on Charles Street and heading downtown on Maryland’s most beautiful scenic byway. Runners will enjoy running through Charm City’s most charming neighborhoods and past Maryland’s most esteemed religious, historical and educational institutions. When runners finish the long descent to the Inner Harbor, they will run along the promenade and finish at Power Plant Live where they will enjoy the Power Plant Live post-race party.
Turn-by-Turn Course Description:
Parking: There is limited parking at the start on Kenilworth Drive. There is very little street parking on Kenilworth Drive. There is limited parking at The Exchange, 1122 Kenilworth Drive. Friends and family members may drop off runners at the start.
We encourage you to park at the finish in the following lots close to the Power Plant Live! These lots are located in the vicinity of the finish line at the Power Plant Live!
Awards: Top three overall males and females, top male and female masters, and the top three males and females in the following age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
Post-race Festivities: The Power Plant Live! is sponsoring the post-race party. Enjoy a complimentary beer (for those 21 and older), a box lunch and live music. The Power Plant Live! restaurants will also be offering food and drink specials for race participants and their families.
Beneficiary: The Children's Heart Program at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital provides a compassionate and comprehensive cardiac care for children from before birth through adulthood with a specialized team of pediatric cardiologists and surgeons, leading-edge diagnostic technology and intervention procedures, and an emphasis on each individual patient and their entire family.
