Growing up I was never an athletic person. I joined the track team in the 7th grade because I liked the way track spikes looked, but I wasn't very good and quit after one season. It wasn't until after the birth of my son in 2012 that I decided to try running again. Most women put on weight throughout a pregnancy, unfortunately for me, I put on "baby weight" before I ever decided to start a family. So when the doctor gave the "ok" for exercising postpartum, I thought running would be a good place to start. Mile by mile I fell in love with running. I not only lost the weight but I became a totally different person. I had energy and I finally looked good and felt good in my clothes! More importantly though, I gained confidence and for the first time in a very long time, I felt happy.
I ran my first 5k in 2013 and quickly graduated to my first marathon 9 months later. Since then, I've run 3 marathons, a Ragnar relay and countless 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons. There are simply no words to describe the way it feels to cross a finish line and each race only gets better and better, each finish line is more special than the one before it.
In 2015 I went to work for a running store in Virginia and absolutely loved it. So when the military moved our family to Maryland in 2016, I immediately sought out Charm City Run and applied for a job. I am so very lucky to be apart of the CCR family and thanks to this company, I get to live my dream and share my love and passion for the sport in our community.
