Javier's 20 year relationship with running has been quite a journey. He began racing local 5Ks in middle school and hasn't looked back since. He's always looking for a new challenge, so he's dabbled with marathons, ultra marathons and even a handful of triathlons, including an Ironman. Sometimes he trains and races for a personal record, but most of the time he's running simply to enjoy the company and the surroundings (particularly if it's on the trails). Javier has experience mentoring and coaching athletes for triathlons through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. Javier was also the training coordinator for the Frederick Steeplechasersm the area's running club. If you see him on a run, he's either climbing a hill or looking for one to climb. He looks forward to sharing many miles with the members of the 10K program and helping runners establish, work towards and meet their goals - whatever they may be.
