Half Marathon Training
Winter half marathon - starts december 28th
Are you planning to run 13.1 this fall? Our half marathon programs are open to everyone from the runner attempting their first endurance event to the repeat competitive runner. Training can be individualized to your experience and goals. The program will prepare to race your best - whether you're new to long distance running or a seasoned half marathoner.
Our half marathon groups meet twice a week from the end of December to mid-March - once a week for speed workouts and once a week for long runs. Your expert coach will also provide you with a weekly training plan that will guide your preparation for your target half marathon. Along the way you'll learn about about increasing your mileage, tempo runs, track workouts, hill workouts, recovery runs, nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, and much more.
To safely meet your goal we do ask that you have a base level of running under your belt before joining this group. What does that mean? We ask that at the beginning of the program you are able to run/walk 3-4 miles at one time and are currently running 10-15 miles per week. This does not mean you need to be able to run the entire way but just that you are comfortable covering that distance. Are you not sure if you meet these requirements? Don’t worry ask the coach for you location. You will be surprised that most people meet these requirements and are able to join the group.

Our winter half marathon groups start December 28th and target the Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon on Sunday, March 22nd, the DC Rock ’n’ Roll Half Marathon on Saturday, March 28th or any other half marathon in the same time frame!

Training Dates & Times
Check out the meeting dates and times for the training location closest to you. Info sessions will be held in the weeks leading up to the start of training to address your questions and explain the program expectations. All info sessions are held at the corresponding Charm City Run shop. To sign up for an info session, please scroll down to fill out the form below.
Where will we run? Groups run from their “home base” Charm City Run shop in addition to tracks, trails and other local meeting spots in the surrounding area.
We also offer virtual training options for half marathon training. You can either purchase a training plan or sign up for monthly virtual training with access to an expert coach.
