We are excited to announce a new running festival in Maryland.  The various races for the event begin and end in the historic City of Havre de Grace.  The half marathon and half marathon relay also include a trip over the Hatem Bridge, through the beautiful Town of Perryille, and around a scenic area know as Perry Point.

The Susquehanna River Running Festival (SRRF) boasts perhaps the most beautiful half marathon course in the Mid -Atlantic region.  The SRRF was designed by experienced race directors and avid runners to create a first-class event and a memorable experience for veterans and newcomers alike. We are capping the the number of in all three events for the inaugural year to make the experience special without being overwhelming.

Starting at Tydings Park in historic Havre De Grace overlooking the Marina and Chesapeake Bay, runners embark on Union Avenue which is lined with Victorian homes. Runners then approach the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge. 7,624 feet long and nearly 100 feet high, the Hatem Bridge provides a breathtaking view of the Susquehanna River emptying into the Chesapeake Bay. Awaiting on the other side is Perryville and a run along Aiken Avenue, a tree-lined street with turn-of-the-century charm. The course then leads to a loop around Perryville Community Park and Perry Point VA Medical Center campus which are perched at the head of the Chesapeake Bay providing sweeping water views. The course makes a turn again through Perryville and another pass across the Hatem Bridge towards Havre De Grace. The last two miles wind through downtown and the waterfront passing by Concord Point Light House, one of the oldest lighthouses in continuous use on the east coast. The half marathon ends with a final dash past the Decoy Museum and Maritime Museum towards the finish line at Tydings Park.

The Lock House to Light House 5K is essentially the first mile and last two miles of the half marathon with a special loop in front of the Susquehanna Lock House Museum.   You may have run other 5K’s in Havre De Grace, but this course is brand new and specifically designed for this special event. Both Half Marathon and 5K courses will be USATF certified.
